1. What are the 120-Hour TESOL and TEFL courses?
Both are 120-hour professional training courses for individuals who want to develop knowledge and skills in teaching English to non-native English speakers.
TESOL – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
TEFL – Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Both courses are offered by Visionary Training Center and are designed for flexible online learning.
2. What is the difference between TESOL and TEFL?
Although the two qualifications overlap considerably, their traditional focus differs:
TESOL has a broader focus and may apply to teaching English to non-native speakers in both English-speaking and non-English-speaking environments.
TEFL traditionally focuses on teaching English in countries where English is not the primary language.
The most appropriate course may depend on the requirements of the school, employer, or country where you plan to teach.
3. How long are the courses?
Each course consists of 120 hours of learning, which participants complete in accordance with the prescribed course requirements.
4. Are the courses online?
Yes. The TESOL and TEFL courses are offered fully online, allowing participants to study from anywhere with an internet connection.
5. Are the courses self-paced?
Yes. The courses follow a self-paced learning format, allowing participants to work through the course materials according to their own schedule.
6. Do I need to attend live classes?
The courses are designed for independent and flexible online learning, so participants may complete the required lessons and activities according to the course guidelines without having to attend regular scheduled classes.
7. Who can enroll in the TESOL or TEFL course?
The courses may be suitable for:
Licensed and aspiring teachers
ESL/EFL teachers and tutors
Education and language students
Online English teachers
Professionals planning to teach English abroad
Individuals interested in starting a career in English language teaching
8. Do I need to be a licensed teacher to enroll?
No. You do not necessarily have to be a licensed professional teacher to take the course.
However, individual employers, schools, online teaching platforms, and countries may impose their own educational, licensing, visa, or employment requirements.
9. Do I need previous teaching experience?
Previous teaching experience is not necessarily required. The courses can also provide foundational professional development for individuals who are new to English language teaching.
10. How much is the enrollment fee?
The enrollment fee is ₱2,500 per course.
11. If I want both TESOL and TEFL certificates, do I need to enroll in both courses?
Yes. TESOL and TEFL are offered as separate courses and certifications. Participants who wish to obtain both qualifications should complete the requirements for each respective course.
12. Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
Yes. Participants who successfully complete all prescribed requirements will receive the corresponding 120-Hour TESOL or 120-Hour TEFL certificate from Visionary Training Center.
13. Is the certificate internationally usable?
The certificates may be included in your professional credentials for opportunities in the Philippines or abroad. However, acceptance ultimately depends on the requirements of the specific employer, educational institution, government agency, or country to which the certificate will be submitted. Participants planning to use the certificate internationally are encouraged to verify the requirements of their intended employer or destination country before applying.
14. Is Visionary Training Center affiliated with TESOL International Association?
Visionary Training Center is a member of the TESOL International Association and an affiliate of the International Open Academy.
Membership in a professional organization should be distinguished from accreditation or endorsement of an individual course unless specifically stated by the accrediting or professional body.
15. Are the TESOL and TEFL courses internationally accredited?
The programs are presented by Visionary Training Center as internationally accredited training courses. Participants who require the certificate for a specific employer, immigration process, licensing authority, or overseas institution should still verify whether that organization recognizes the particular qualification.
16. Can my TESOL or TEFL certificate be authenticated for use abroad?
Yes. Depending on applicable documentary requirements, the certificate may undergo notarization and authentication procedures and may be processed for a DFA Apostille for international use.
17. What is a DFA Apostille?
An Apostille is a form of authentication that facilitates the use of Philippine documents in countries that are parties to the Apostille Convention. Obtaining an Apostille may help establish the authenticity of your certificate for overseas submission. However, an Apostille does not automatically guarantee that an employer, school, immigration authority, or foreign government will accept the qualification itself.
18. Is the DFA Apostille included in the ₱2,500 enrollment fee?
No. Notarization, authentication, CANA, DFA Apostille, courier fees, and other related processing requirements, when applicable, are separate from the course enrollment fee unless specifically included in a particular package.
19. Do the TESOL and TEFL courses carry PRC CPD units?
Unless specifically announced as a PRC-accredited CPD program with corresponding approved units, participants should not assume that the courses carry pre-approved PRC CPD units.
Participants may inquire with the Professional Regulation Commission regarding whether their completed training may qualify for self-directed learning or other applicable CPD credit through the CPDAS system.
20. Can I submit my TESOL or TEFL certificate to PRC through CPDAS?
Participants may submit eligible professional development documents through the PRC CPDAS portal, subject to the applicable rules and requirements of the Professional Regulation Commission. The PRC has sole authority to evaluate the application and determine whether CPD units will be granted and how many units may be credited. Approval is therefore not guaranteed by Visionary Training Center.
21. Will completing TESOL or TEFL guarantee me a teaching job abroad?
No. A TESOL or TEFL certificate can strengthen your professional credentials, but it does not guarantee employment. Hiring requirements may also include a bachelor's degree, teaching experience, English proficiency, nationality or visa requirements, background checks, teaching licenses, and other qualifications, depending on the employer and country.
22. Can I use the certificate to apply as an online ESL teacher?
Yes. The certificate may be included among your credentials when applying for online ESL/EFL teaching positions. However, each company establishes its own hiring standards.
23. Can I use the certificate when applying to teach overseas?
Yes, it may be submitted as part of your professional credentials. Before applying, check the specific requirements of your intended country, employer, school, or visa category, since TESOL/TEFL requirements vary internationally.
24. Which should I take if I want to teach abroad: TESOL or TEFL?
For teaching English primarily in a non-English-speaking country, TEFL is commonly associated with that context. TESOL may provide broader applicability for teaching English to speakers of other languages in various educational settings. Since employers sometimes use the terms interchangeably, the best choice is to check the qualification specifically requested by your target employer or country.
The TESOL or TEFL certificate serves as evidence that you have successfully completed the applicable 120-hour professional training program. Recognition for employment, promotion, immigration, licensing, CPD credit, or academic purposes remains subject to the independent policies and evaluation of the institution, employer, government agency, or country where the certificate is presented.
